F1 Midweek Report - Australia 2015

Mercedes pick up where they left off as new season gets off to a stuttering start

Natalie Pinkham is joined by former F1 driver David Brabham and former F1 Technical Director Mike Gascoyne to discuss the Australian Grand Prix.

A new season has started, meaning a new season of Sky Sports F1’s Midweek Report. And there’s plenty for Natalie Pinkham and guests Mike Gascoyne and David Brabham to discuss after the opening race in Melbourne.

The story was very much the same out front, with Lewis Hamilton leading home Nico Rosberg as Mercedes got their title defence up and running with another 1-2 finish.

Sebastian Vettel finished third on his debut for a resurgent Ferrari, but in truth there was hardly a feeling of overriding optimism as F1 left Melbourne.

The race was notable for poor reliability, with a threadbare starting grid of 15 cars. Just 11 finished and Red Bull afterwards called for a rule change to rein in Mercedes. There's even been talk that the former world champions might sell up.

Sauber earned an encouraging double points-finish, meanwhile, but only after a difficult week that started with former driver Giedo van der Garde going to court to try and re-claim a seat with the Swiss team.
