Lewis Hamilton watched Sebastian Vettel crash out of the Singapore GP in what could be the defining moment in the 2017 title race.
Vettel stormed to pole on Saturday with Hamilton all the way down in fifth and the German seemingly well set to regain the lead in the Drivers' Championship with a fifth victory at Marina Bay.
But as Vettel tried to cover off fellow front-row starter Max Verstappen at the race's start, he squeezed the Red Bull driver into his Ferrari team-mate and all three cars sustained race-ending damage.
Hamilton had made his way up to second after a storming getaway, and watched Vettel crash out after the Turn One mayhem in a dream start to the race for the championship leader.
"Sorry guys," Vettel said on team radio afterwards. "Sorry, I'm really sorry."
The four-time Singapore GP winner then added to Sky Sports F1: "I didn't see that much. I saw Max and then next thing I see is Kimi hitting the side of me and Max somewhere there."
Race stewards investigated the incidents but decided that neither Vettel, Verstappen nor Raikkonen were 'wholly or predominantly to blame'.
Hamilton subsequently won the race to open up a 28-point lead in the title race.
