Bernie Ecclestone's 40-year reign as Formula 1's one and only ringmaster may have come to an end, but the legendary supremo will never be forgotten as the man who made the sport what it is today.
"Bernie was a unique individual and kind of hand-built the sport," said McLaren chief Zak Brown after Ecclestone stepped down as F1 chief executive this week.
Arguably the world's most famous sports supremo, Ecclestone has been intrinsically linked to F1 for over four decades and is credited with the championship's worldwide expansion.
Ecclestone has also become famous for the soundbite.
