Capable of driving a Formula 1 car quickly? Able to get along with your team-mate? Well, a newly-advertised 'job' at Mercedes may just be for you.

As they continue their search for a replacement for retired world champion Nico Rosberg, Mercedes have placed a spoof advert in the classified section of this week's Autosport magazine for a race driver.

The advert states the successful candidate will be "responsible for the operation of an F1 car at track events, including demos, tests and Grands Prix" and would "ideally" have a "proven track record in skills including steering braking and, in particular, accelerating".

The odds: Lewis Hamilton's 2017 team-mate

The would-be driver would also have to have good feedback and communication skills, be able to identity the strengths and weaknesses of rival teams, and show "extreme patience" in dealings with the media.

The added carrot is Mercedes' benefits package - which includes a company car and a "generous" bonus.

Martin Brundle, Damon Hill and Ted Kravitz predict who will replace Nico Rosberg at Mercedes.

And, if that is not enough, the driver, who would probably command a seven or eight-figure salary, would also be able to take advantage of subsidised meals at the team's Brackley HQ.

Salary details are, however, not listed…

Mercedes mull "brave decision" on driver

Mercedes chief Toto Wolff claimed last weekend that every driver on the grid apart from Kimi Raikkonen and Daniil Kvyat had approached him over the vacancy, which suddenly opened last Friday after Rosberg stunned F1 by announcing his immediate retirement.

Mercedes junior Pascal Wehrlein remains the favourite to land the coveted seat alongside Lewis Hamilton, ahead of Williams' Valtteri Bottas. The team have said they intend to make a decision by Christmas.
