Gary Anderson will take on Michael Smith in the Play-Offs

Gary Anderson says he is relishing his Play-Off clash against Michael Smith in London after finishing in third spot thanks to victory over Michael van Gerwen in Aberdeen.

The Scotsman upset world No 1 and defending Premier League champion Van Gerwen with a fine 7-5 victory on Thursday night to tee-up an encounter with his protégé Smith on finals night at The O2.

Smith, who is making just his second appearance in the competition, defeated Anderson on opening night in Dublin before the 47-year-old got his revenge in Rotterdam.

Anderson has won nine out of their 12 meetings overall and will be firm favourite to reach the final against the winner of the clash between Van Gerwen and Rob Cross.

We're going to have to get him for the third time now aren't we?

"I've just noticed that I'm playing Michael now, but I'd have rather have played MVG first game as you know where you stand. It's going to be good. I think it's going to be a good week," Anderson told Sky Sports.

"He got a bit of a raw deal two years ago, the first night he had two games on one night and lost both games which killed the boy. It took him a wee while to bounce back but he's been absolutely brilliant.

"I told him he was lucky the first game, I was going to get him in Rotterdam. We're going to have to get him for the third time now aren't we?"
