WATCH: Story of Day One

A pick of the action from the morning session of the first day of the fifth Ashes Test at the Oval.

England gave out-going Australia skipper Michael Clarke a guard of honour as he walked to the crease on day one of the fifth and final Ashes Test, at The Oval.

Clarke, who will retire from international cricket at the end of this Test, was applauded to the wicket by the home players but could only manage 15 as his struggles with the bat continued.

It was an otherwise successful day for the skipper as he saw his Australian side reach stumps on 287-3 after being put into bat by England on a green wicket and with clouds circulating in the morning.

Openers David Warner (85) and Chris Rogers (43) shared a stand of 110, and Steve Smith (78no) and Adam Voges (47no) added another century stand, both still unbeaten going into day two.

Of the three wickets that did fall, Rogers – also in his last Test – was caught by Alastair Cook at slip off Mark Wood, Warner edged Moeen Ali to Adam Lyth at slip and Clarke got a faint edge through to Jos Buttler off Ben Stokes.
