Australia's in-form opener Aaron Finch has been ruled out of Friday's fourth one-day international against England, with Glenn Maxwell recalled to the squad as cover.
Finch has been in excellent touch despite his side losing each of the first three games in the series, hitting 106, 107 and 62 at the head of the innings.
But Cricket Australia has confirmed the 31-year-old has a "minor right hamstring strain" and will not feature at the Adelaide Oval on Australia Day.
Finch will remain with the squad and be assessed ahead of the fifth and final ODI at the new Perth Stadium on Sunday, but Maxwell has been brought back just in case.
The 29-year-old has been a notable absentee from Australia's international squads in recent months, with captain Steve Smith openly questioning his recent contributions and suggesting he should "train smarter".
But the one-day side have hardly flourished in his absence and the olive branch has been extended following Maxwell's fine 84 in his most recent Big Bash innings for Melbourne Stars.
Travis Head is expected to replace Finch in the side, with Maxwell not arriving in Adelaide until after the side's final training session.
He made scores of seven and five in the first two games of the series before being dropped in Sydney but said: "Hopefully the opportunity comes. I've been playing pretty well but I'm disappointed with the way I started this series.
"I'll happily bat wherever they want. I'm just happy to get another opportunity after a pretty disappointing few games.
"Now the series is over and the pressure is out of it a little, maybe the guys can go out and find some rhythm and ways to win games of cricket."
