Fast bowler Jofra Archer will make his England debut in Friday's Sky Live ODI against Ireland in Malahide.

Barbados-born Archer, 24, received his maiden call-up last month after qualifying for world No 1 team England in March.

He was not included in England's 15-man provisional squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup, but now has the opportunity to impress before that line-up is finalised by May 23.

Middlesex batsman Dawid Malan and Surrey wicketkeeper-batsman Ben Foakes, a replacement for the injured Sam Billings, will also win their first caps on Friday.

Confirming Archer's selection, England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan said: "He obviously brings a lot of excitement, along with skill level; he's been around for the last few years. I've played against him and he's bowled extremely well when I've played against him.

"The attributes and skills he has shown in T20 franchise cricket are good enough to play international cricket, it's how he deals with the pressures that come with it and how he performs.

"He was delighted [when he was told]. I think his Mum and Dad are over. Debuts are all about celebrating what's gone before and recognising the start of a new journey and for Jofra it's obviously very exciting."

Former England seamer Dominic Cork described Archer's inclusion as "an absolute must".

He added: "I've watched him the last three weeks in Mumbai, playing for Rajasthan. You've got someone who can bowl at the pace that he can; he can bowl in that first powerplay, in the middle and at the end.

"He's an X-factor sort of player. All the spotlight will be on him and whether he should make that World Cup squad. I think he will be in that, although there are a lot of players out there who perhaps think that England should keep that squad that's been together for a while now.

"Archer has got the ability to bowl a 90mph ball; in any form of the game, you've got to have these sort of individuals."

England arrive in Malahide without rested quartet Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Moeen Ali and Mark Wood.

With Jason Roy joining Billings on the sidelines with a back injury and Alex Hales withdrawn from the squad following a 21-day ban for reportedly testing positive for recreational drugs for a second time, Malan and Foakes now have a chance to press their World Cup claims.

"I play closely with Dawid at Middlesex and he has probably been unlucky that the squad has been so strong that he hasn't played 50-overs earlier," said Morgan.

"The feedback on Ben has been absolutely awesome around the Test team and all the feedback from Surrey is that he's one of the best keepers in the country and is an extremely composed middle order batsman that offers a lot."

Ireland will be without the services of Stuart Thompson after he sustained a shoulder problem in training on Wednesday - Mark Adair joining the squad in his place.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Gary Wilson is in line to make his 100th ODI appearance after earning a recall while, at the other end of the spectrum, batsman Lorcan Tucker and all-rounder Josh Little might make their first.

Ireland squad: William Porterfield (captain), Mark Adair, Andrew Balbirnie, George Dockrell, Josh Little, Andrew McBrine, Barry McCarthy, James McCollum, Tim Murtagh, Kevin O'Brien, Boyd Rankin, Paul Stirling, Lorcan Tucker, Gary Wilson
