Tom Westley will earn his first England cap after being called up for the third Test against South Africa at the Kia Oval.
Essex batsman Westley will take the No 3 berth in England's order vacated by Yorkshire batsman Gary Ballance, who broke his finger in the second Test.
Middlesex's Dawid Malan has also been added to the squad and could play in his first Test match if England opt to use an extra batsman when play gets underway next Thursday.
Durham opener Keaton Jennings retains his place in the squad while Middlesex seam bowler Toby Roland-Jones, unused in the opening two Tests, retains his place meaning there could be as many as three Test debutants.
Durham bowler Mark Wood was passed fit after a heel injury but could be challenged by Roland-Jones, while spinner Liam Dawson also keeps his spot in a 13-man squad.
Jennings is set to keep his place at the top of the order despite only scoring 44 runs in four innings so far - he made only three of those in two attempts at the home of Nottinghamshire.
Westley, 28, has been in good form for Essex where he has scored 478 runs in the Championship this season, including two centuries, at an average of 53.11.
He also impressed for the England Lions last winter and at Worcester last month, where he scored 106 not out against South Africa's full-strength bowling attack - Westley also bowls off-spin although he has barely been used in such a role this season.
Malan made his England debut last month in the deciding Twenty20 international against South Africa, where he scored 78 off 44 balls in Cardiff.
He has been a consistent performer with Middlesex in red-ball cricket, averaging 42.50 in the Specsavers County Championship this season with a highest score of 115.
