Trevor Bayliss says there are no "quick fixes" for England in the subcontinent but insists there were signs of progress in the Bangladesh series.

Honours were even in the two-Test series, with Bangladesh's 108-run win in Dhaka their first Test victory over England and just their eighth overall from 95 matches.

What was particularly galling was England's batting collapse, losing 10 wickets in a session as they imploded from 100 without loss before tea on the third day to 164 all out in pursuit of a victory target of 273.

Bayliss has berated too many missed chances as England fell to a 108-run loss to Bangladesh in the second Test

While all top seven batsmen - bar Gary Ballance - passed fifty at least once, none were able to reach three figures and Bayliss is aware they have some work to do before the first Test against India gets under way on November 9 in Rajkot.

The England head coach said: "I think, from a batting point of view, there's been some good signs during this series. We don't come across those types of wickets very often at all, or at all.

"The only thing you can do is experience it more often. There's no quick fix but as we saw, there were batters in the two Tests that were able to bat for a period of time and score runs.

Alastair Cook has insisted he has faith in his spinners despite his side's 108-run loss to Bangladesh

"If they can do it once they've got it in them but it's just about doing it more often and more consistently and learning from those innings."

One batsman who was conspicuously poor throughout was Ballance, who made four single-figure scores as he failed to justify the faith shown in him after being retained despite a poor series against Pakistan over the summer.

His place is under heavy scrutiny and, with England naming the same 16-man squad for India, the most obvious answer would be to move Ben Duckett down to Ballance's place of four in the order, with teenager Haseeb Hameed opening alongside captain Cook.

Bob Willis tells The Verdict that England's bowling on day two against Bangladesh was 'not good enough'

On that suggestion, Bayliss said: "I'm sure that will be one of the things we discuss. It was one of the things we discussed before the series started, the different options we have available to us going forward, so that we weren't surprised by anything.

"I'm sure [Ballance's form is] a concern for him, too, that he's not scoring runs.

"There will be a number of players that we will be discussing and what we might think is our best and strongest team."
