England have called up Tymal Mills and Dawid Malan for their upcoming T20 international against Sri Lanka.

Sussex left-armer Mills and Middlesex batsman Malan are the only new faces included, either in England's 13-man T20 squad or a 14-strong group for a five-match one-day international series against Angelo Mathews' tourists.

Hampshire's Liam Dawson, who was an unused member of the World T20 squad, retains his place for the one-off T20 game against the Sri Lankans on July 5.

Mills' inclusion comes barely a year after a back condition forced him to halt his first-class career indefinitely and concentrate on T20 cricket.

The fast bowler dismissed Chris Gayle with a 93mph yorker in a recent game at Somerset, prompting Nasser Hussain to lobby for his international inclusion.

Malan, meanwhile, earns his first senior call-up after impressing for the England Lions against Pakistan A in the winter.

National selector James Whitaker said: "The IT20 squad has a balanced feel to it with an exciting blend of youth and experience. This is our first test since reaching the final of the ICC World T20 and we know the players will want to ensure that they play well and win the match.

"This is also an opportunity, if selected, for two new players to showcase their skills at this level. Tymal Mills has been one of the standout performers with the ball in the NatWest T20 Blast competition this season and deserves his chance.

"Dawid Malan has made great strides as an attacking batsman, both with Middlesex and the England Lions. We were particularly impressed with his three fifties during the winter tour of the UAE against Pakistan A."

Moeen Ali, Alex Hales and Joe Root are all rested for the T20 game, while Ben Stokes misses out through injury.

England play the first of five ODIs against Sri Lanka at Trent Bridge on June 21.
