Jake Ball is dreaming of making his England debut in the third Investec Test against Sri Lanka at Lord's on Thursday.

The Nottinghamshire bowler has been named in every squad for the three-match series with Angelo Mathews' men, but did not play in either of the first two matches as England took an unassailable 2-0 lead in convincing fashion.

With the series done and dusted, the hosts could consider resting members of their front-line attack, though James Anderson is in brilliant form having taken 18 wickets in the first two games.

The selectors might also want to give the 25-year-old the chance to show what he is made of ahead of the series with Pakistan in the second half of the summer.

"I have tried not to think about it too much, the series is wrapped up and you never know what they are thinking," he said.

"It has been incredible to be around what is a series-winning team - they have played some unbelievable cricket over the two Tests.

"It has been unbelievable to watch the likes of Jimmy bowl. Obviously I have played with Broady (Stuart Broad), but learning from those lads has been brilliant for me.
