England v Sri Lanka: Joe Root takes a stunning one-handed catch

England show some great teamwork in the slips, claiming the wicket of Shaminda Eranga

Some great teamwork in the England slip cordon saw Joe Root take a stunning one-handed catch against Sri Lanka at Durham.

With England well on top, having declared on 498-9 and reduced the tourists to 90-7, Stuart Broad found the edge of Shaminda Eranga's bat with the ball flying towards the slips.

James Vince made an acrobatic effort and looked to have snaffled it left-handed above his head - but the ball would not stick.

However, just as the chance looked like it would go, Root spun and plucked the ball out of the air to leave Sri Lanka eight down.

David Gower and Micheal Atherton had a bit of fun with Jonny Bairstow, who looked like he was struggling with his crossword puzzle

They finished the day on 91-8, 407 behind England's first innings total as Moeen Ali made 155 not out - yet while the No 7 was piling on the runs not all the attention on the England balcony was on the pitch.

Indeed, Jonny Bairstow looked to be struggling with a crossword puzzle and David Gower and Michael Atherton took the opportunity to have a bit of fun with the wicketkeeper-batsman.

Then, later in the day, with Sri Lanka batting, Bumble showed off his lip-reading skills as he enjoyed a full on conversation with a fan in the crowd, despite being sat in the commentary booth.
