Alastair Cook: England captain's career highs as he nears 10,000 Test runs

A look back at the highlights of Alastair Cook's career as he closes in on 10,000 Test runs

Alastair Cook will be hunting history against Sri Lanka Headingley, with the England skipper just 36 runs away from being the first man from his country to score 10,000 Test runs.

The left-handed opener, who would become the 12th man overall to complete the milestone, impressed from the off in five-day cricket, scoring a Test ton on debut in India in 2006.

Cook has gone on to pocket 28 Test centuries - the most by an Englishman - in his 126 Tests to date and shows no signs of slowing down as he looks to take his Test-match run tally into five digits.

Play the video above to watch some of Cook's career highs, including that debut ton in Nagpur, his first century against Australia, and his run-laden Ashes tour of 2010-11.
