England coach Trevor Bayliss says Stuart Broad will return to the side when they face South Africa in the fourth ODI of the series on Friday.

The 29-year-old has not played for the one-day team since England's disappointing effort at the World Cup last year and on Wednesday he was left out of the squad for the upcoming World Twenty20.

However, he will be in the side on Friday in Johannesburg, having been added to the squad ahead of the series following injuries to Steven Finn and Liam Plunkett.

The tourists will be looking to wrap up the series for the second time, having lost at Centurion on Tuesday after winning the first two matches.

And Broad has happy memories of the Wanderers ground, memorably taking 6-17 there in the third Test last month as England claimed a series-clinching victory.

Asked if the experienced paceman was likely to be in the line-up on Friday, Bayliss said: "Yes. I think it is always on the cards for him to play some cricket on this tour, once he got selected.

"He has got that experience, and it will be good to have it - especially at the Wanderers, where he had that success in the Test.

"So we hope we have a good feel about that next venue, and we can play well."

The England attack did well in the first two matches of the ODI series but South Africa cruised to a seven-wicket win in the third game, chasing down England's 318-8 after openers Quinton de Kock and Hashim Amla had put on 239.

Broad, who has taken 177 ODI wickets in 119 matches, is likely to replace either Chris Jordan or David Willey.
