Mark Ramprakash is set to spend some time in the Indian Premier League as England look to add to their Twenty20 coaching experience.
Head coach Trevor Bayliss is keen to see more England players involved in worldwide T20 leagues, but also believes there is a place for coaching staff to take part and broaden their experience.
England batting coach Ramprakash could be the first man to test the waters with a short stint at the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), a team Bayliss coached to the IPL title in 2012.
"We are trying to organise for Mark Ramprakash to spend a bit of time in the IPL this year, for three or four days at KKR where I was at and somewhere else for 10 days or so to get those experiences," Bayliss said.
"It's important for the coaches, not just the players.
"He will get involved with practice. It's more of a fact-finding mission for him, I suppose, rather than being a tool for the IPL teams.
"It's for him to see how they go about practice, to broaden the mind, broaden the horizons."
England and Wales Cricket Board director Andrew Strauss is also in favour of the plan for players, and Bayliss feels Adil Rashid and David Willey benefitted from their stints in the Big Bash League in Australia.
Rashid finished second in voting for player of the tournament while playing for the Adelaide Strikers and was the tournament's second highest wicket-taker with 16.
"It was good for David Willey and (Adil) Rashid to actually play in the Big Bash and do well," Bayliss added. "At (Sydney) Sixers, we've had Michael Lumb for the first five years.
"The more those guys go over and do well, the more the management of those teams will look closer at the English game.
"That's why it's important not just for the players to do well but for the overall English game as well, so I hope more of them will be recognised and get opportunities overseas."
