Yorkshire's Jack Leaning produces catch father and goalkeeper Andy would have been proud of

Jack Leaning produced a contender for catch of the season or perhaps decade as Yorkshire beat Lancashire by 19 runs in the NatWest T20 Blast.

The Yorkshire batsman was fielding on the cover boundary at Headingley when he pulled off the spectacular leaping catch to dismiss Lancashire's Arron Lilley off the bowling of England seamer Liam Plunkett.

A fiercely-hit shot off a Plunkett full-toss looked like flying over the head of the 23-year-old, but he arched his back, threw out his right hand and somehow held on to the ball in the deep.

In a further twist, Leaning's father Andy is a former professional goalkeeper and goalkeeping coach - he made more than 200 appearances for York City, Sheffield United, Bristol City, Lincoln City and Chesterfield.

Lilley's departure left Lancashire on 63-3 in their pursuit of 183 for victory and brought England star Jos Buttler to the crease.

Buttler went on to make a quickfire 23 but it was his former England team-mate Tim Bresnan who stole the show with the ball and saw the Vikings home.

Lancashire needed 23 runs off the final over but Bresnan took three wickets and also contributed to a run-out as Yorkshire claimed victory by 19 runs. Bresnan finished with figures of 6-19.
