Jake Ball has been called into the England squad for the upcoming Royal London one-day international series against Australia.
The Nottinghamshire seamer will cover for Chris Woakes, who suffered a right quad strain during the second Test win over Pakistan.
Woakes and fellow all-rounder Ben Stokes (left hamstring tear) will be unavailable for this weekend's one-off match against Scotland and the first part of the five-match series against the Aussies.
The duo have begun their rehabilitation programmes and will be hoping to feature in the latter stages of the series.
Ball, 27, last played for England at the start of the year in Perth and was a member of the squad that defeated Australia 4-1 in the series Down Under.
He has played in 17 one-day internationals so far and has taken 21 wickets, with a best of 5-51.
On Monday, Woakes was ruled out of Sunday's Scotland game, live on Sky Sports Cricket, and replaced in the squad by Tom Curran of Surrey.
