James Anderson was in the spotlight on day two at Lord's after becoming the first Englishman to 500 Test wickets - but Ben Stokes and Kemar Roach also played fine hands.
Stokes (60) notched his 12th Test fifty as the hosts scored 194 to earn a 71-run lead on first innings - Stuart Broad also contributing with a dashing late 38 that featured four fours and two sixes.
Roach, meanwhile, scooped 5-72, his seventh five-for in Tests, after adding the wickets of Dawid Malan, Jonny Bairstow and Moeen Ali to his opening day dismissals of Alastair Cook and Mark Stoneman.

Windies closed on 93-3 to lead by 22 - Broad taking the other wicket by pinning Kyle Hope lbw - with Anderson given two warnings by the umpires after running on the pitch during his follow through.
Live coverage of the third Test between England and Windies continues on Sky Sports Cricket at 10am on Saturday, with a Marcus Trescothick Masterclass preceding the live action from 11am.
