Jos Buttler eager to bat higher up the order in Twenty20 cricket

England man talks IPL, Ricky Ponting and self-coaching

England and Lancashire's Jos Buttler tells Nasser Hussain he would like to move higher up the order in T20 cricket

Jos Buttler told Sky Sports he would like to bat higher up the order in Twenty20 cricket as he looks to 'score bigger runs'.

The England wicketkeeper is usually deployed around the No 4 or 5 spot in short-form cricket, the 25-year-old playing that role for Mumbai Indians in the IPL as well as his county side Lancashire and at international level.

However, Buttler, who scored a 29-ball 56 from No 5 for Lancashire in Saturday's NatWest T20 Blast clash with Nottinghamshire Outlaws, is keen to be elevated as he aims to make a similar impact on games as IPL standouts Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and David Warner.

"I want to push myself higher up the order so I can score bigger runs," the right-hander told Nasser Hussain. "In Twenty20 that means the powerplay area, if I can persuade people to put me in that early!

"That's where I want to keep developing - you want to emulate guys like Kohli, De Villiers and Warner, who are taking the game forward."
