Adil Rashid went from zero to hero on Test debut with 5-64 as England almost beat Pakistan in the first Test in Abu Dhabi.
England dared to dream after dismissing the tourists for 173 in their second innings - Rashid's victims including Younus Khan and Sarfraz Ahmed - to leave themselves needing 99 from 19 overs for victory.
However, Alastair Cook's men could only reach 74-4 by the time bad light called an early end after 11 overs, Joe Root (30no).
All that means the three-match series remains all square at 0-0 ahead of the second Test in Dubai from Thursday.
