James Vince wants England to put on the kind of performance that makes Australian fans "turn on their own team" during the Ashes series.
The Ashes gets underway on Thursday in Brisbane with a number of pundits - including Australian legend Shane Warne - suggesting England are in better shape ahead of the first Test.
Vince looks set to bat at number three and the Hampshire captain insists he is relishing the prospect of playing in a hostile environment at The Gabba this week.
"I think we know what to expect from the Aussie crowd," Vince said.
"A few of the guys who have experienced it have said you get a fair bit of stick out there, but when we're out in the middle and focusing on what we do, it's about blocking it out and getting on with our jobs.
"We know what to expect and that's part of the reason you want to play in an away Ashes series. It's good fun getting a bit of stick and if you can perform well and get them turning on their own team, that will be great."
Although he is yet to play in an Ashes series, Vince has experience of watching England clash with Australia as a spectator.
"The last time the Ashes was on, we were out here with the Lions and managed to get down to the game and sat with the Barmy Army for a few hours," he said.
"I'm looking forward to being on the other side of the fence and hopefully putting on a really good show for them."
Vince admits Australia have an advantage being on home ground but believes there is little to choose between the two side ahead of the series.
"They're used to playing here and they've got a lot of pace in their attack," he said.
"But there's not a huge amount of experience in there, some guys have not played a huge amount of Test matches.
"It's the same as the make-up of our side really - they have got the Warner's and the Smith's, and we have got the Root's and the Cook's.
"There are match-ups everywhere and it will come down to whoever performs better in the series."
