Bangladesh v England: Adil Rashid looks back on a successful ODI series

The England leg-spinner on winning away, celebrations and table tennis...

In his latest blog, Adil Rashid talks ODI series success, competition for places and Sam Billings' ping-pong abilities...

Bangladesh are proving very tough opposition in their own conditions and it took a magnificent team effort to win the ODI series.

I thought we played exceptionally well in the third ODI and, after losing in Dhaka, showed our character and how clear and confident we are about what we want to achieve as a team.

The winning shot from Chris Woakes was a real highlight for me given how much effort we've put into the series and how determined Bangladesh were to win their seventh series in a row.

I've felt okay at times with my bowling without quite being at my best but over the three matches, I've found a way to take 10 wickets and feel in a good place going into the Test series.

Sam Billings came in for the final game and performed very well, as Ben Duckett and Jake Ball have also done in this series, and all credit to them. It shows how good our squad is and how strong the domestic stuff back in England is too with the players that are coming through - the England Lions as well.

It's good to have that competition, it makes people work hard in the nets, work hard on their game and stay really focused on match days.

A lot was made of the confrontation after Jos Buttler's dismissal in the second one-dayer, but these things can happen - sometimes emotions get the better of players.

Obviously, there was a review and Jos was given out but the way the Bangladeshis reacted to the decision did not look right to me and most of the lads. It looked like they were running towards Jos with an 'in-your-face' kind of attitude, which isn't really called for in cricket.

If you get somebody out then you celebrate, but don't go over the top. Emotions can sometimes run high and things were said but that is part of the game.

Even so, after that we were all fired up and determined to show our class in Chittagong.

Away from the cricket, the lads are still playing plenty of FIFA and a bit of table tennis too. I mentioned in my last column that Billings backed himself at FIFA and it is exactly the same with the table tennis - he really does rate himself!

We spend a lot of time with each other because we can't go out too much in Bangladesh and we're bonding well as a team and enjoying it.

The Test matches are next up for us and we have a couple of two-day warm-up games against the Bangladesh Cricket Board XI to help us prepare and adapt to the red ball.

The next few days will also help us to shift our mind-set to the longer form of the game, which is crucial if we are to start strongly next Thursday.
