Derry Mathews says he will do the boxing public a favour by silencing WBC Silver super lightweight champion Ohara Davies when the pair meet at The O2 on March 4, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

'Dirty' Derry (38-11-2-KO20) is aiming to bounce back from a fourth-round loss to London 2012 gold medallist Luke Campbell in October against undefeated Davies (14-0-10KO) in a fight that promises to be a feisty encounter.

The two fighters meet on the undercard of David Haye's heavyweight grudge match with Tony Bellew, with the bad blood between the pair intensifying on social media in recent weeks.

"The kid is mad and everyone in boxing wants me to do him in," Mathews said.

"He bad mouths people because he thinks it's going to raise his profile - the likes of Naseem Hamed could back it up, no-one has seen this kid back it up yet and it's down to me to stop him.
