Conor McGregor is a huge star in Ireland but if he can pull off a shock and somehow beat Floyd Mayweather, he will become the world's biggest... ever!
Conor McGregor is the biggest individual star Ireland as ever had - and if he beats Floyd Mayweather he will become the biggest in the world.
Last week I was saying how popular Katie Taylor is, but this guy is something different.
The biggest sport nationwide is probably GAA but it might not carry the same X-Factor that the professional, superstars sport brings along.
Football is always popular and when his team did so well in the 1990s' that caught the nation but in terms of one person, out there on his own, I would say McGregor is the biggest star in Ireland. Ever.
And if he manages to pull this off, he will become the biggest name worldwide. Ever.
When we talk about Floyd Mayweather we put him in with Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran - and I would say he is in the pound-for-pound top 10 of all-time.
Floyd may say he's the best and it is down to opinions but he is certainly one of the hardest to beat and one of the best defences boxing has seen, so if McGregor could somehow beat him, it will be the biggest shock sport has seen.
If McGregor can't do it - and not many people think he can - he has nothing to lose in terms of his boxing career because he can go back to UFC and continue there.
But as we all saw on that four-stop press tour, he has got a big, big ego and that is on the line. Yes it is a win-win for him but if he took a real beating and was badly hurt, that ego would be seriously tarnished.
He will though, get plenty of support out in Vegas, don't worry about that. I am not really 'into' MMA, but I went to Vegas to watch him fight Chad Mendez, just to see what it was like.
Well, if those of you remember Ricky Hatton taking thousands out there to face Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao it was just like that, but with Irish and UFC fans. It was mental. It took about 50 minutes to get out of the MGM Grand Garden after he won; everyone was singing Irish songs, going mad and I remember guys on top of the fruit machines, with their tops off, leading the songs.
The place will be crazy in fight week. It will be something Las Vegas has never seen before.
