Frampton confirms trainer

Jamie Moore is the new man behind the two-weight world champion...

Carl just sent me a direct Direct Message on Twitter, asking for my number so we could have a chat. I had a feeling what it was about; not just because he had split from Shane McGuigan but because it reminded me of what happened with Matthew Macklin a couple of years ago.

There is no long-term or short-term or even temporary deal. I've never had a contract to train anyone. I will just do a job for Carl Frampton to the best of my abilities and I am sure it will be a successful one.

My wife said the same thing back then and a week later, I got a DM from him because I had a new mobile number. He rang me from Las Vegas, where he'd been out watching the Mayweather-McGregor fight, and just wanted to find out what my situation is and asked if I could train him.

He said he would like to come over, have a bit of a move around and see how we gelled together. Of course, I was up for that and that was that. He called me a few days later, once he'd got over his jetlag and we had a few days this week together and to be honest, we clicked straight away.

Any trainer in the world will tell you, you are only as good as the fighter you work with and I am sure I can do a great job sharpening Carl's tools up, setting up a couple of different gameplans for each opponent and get him to follow them.

But the one thing is it will be a much easier job to do with such a talented fighter as Carl. Any trainer in the world would love to train with him. I am privileged and honoured that he asked me and came over.

It would be like I was offending him if I tried to change him that much, because he is very much an all-round fighter and I don't want to change him.

All I want to do is bring out his best attributes to the best of his ability and just use them at the right time in a fight. I am sure I will be able to do that.

Eddie Hearn said he wants to work with Carl Frampton again if he is a free agent.

Carl has already started ticking over but of course the managerial and promotion situation needs sorting out first. He obviously wants to fight before the end of the year, maybe by the end of November. Once we can get a date set in stone and start working for that. Because he is that good, he has more than a few options.

He is top world-class level and as I said, I am sure he is every trainer's dream to work with. I am looking forward to seeing him progress.
