Kell Brook: Who do The Panel think he should fight after Kevin Bizier?

By The Panel, Boxers, Trainers & Pundits

Kell Brook says he wants a big name opponent in the summer to bring the best out of him.

One of boxing's biggest mistakes is looking past the fighter in front of you but now he has got Kevin Bizier out of the way, Kell Brook wants a big name next.

The IBF world welterweight took less than two rounds to finish his third mandatory challenger and with talk of a Timothy Bradley battle already being mentioned, the Special One made it clear he would take on any of the stars of the division.

Well we asked The Panel who they want to see Brook fight next...

Paul Smith

I'd still love to see the Amir Khan fight myself. I know people think it won't happen and it all depends on whether Khan can handle Canelo - which he could by all means - and where he wants to go after that. I think if Khan loses to Canelo, there is more of a chance.

In the past, if Khan had risked losing to Kell, he wouldn't have been able to chase Floyd Mayweather and co. But now he is almost on a higher level. Even if he loses to Canelo, the fight with Kell fight is still one we want to see.

Kell just needs a big name, that's the first thing. I would love it to be Khan later this year.

I'd like to see Brook fight Danny Garcia because he has beaten Amir Khan and holds the WBC title. Not only can we can get some sort of comparison but it proves a point, because you would think Kell could beat him, on paper at least.

Mind you, I could beat Mike Tyson on paper because I beat Glen Johnson, who beat Antonio Tarver, who beat Roy Jones Jr, who beat John Ruiz, who beat Hasim Rahman, who beat Lennox Lewis, who... you know what I mean!

Garcia is very good and did a job on Khan a couple of years ago. While I do think Kell can - and I mean can, not will - beat anyone in the welterweight division if he builds up that momentum, Garcia would be a tough fight and one we would all look forward to.

On top of that a fight with Garcia will give us some gauge when it comes to Brook vs Khan.

The Sky Sports pundits all agreed that Kell Brook can mix with the best of the welterweight division.

Johnny Nelson

For me, it has to be Miguel Cotto. Cotto is a big name and one of those fighters that the general public know. He is one of those that will crossover and show everyone Kell is finally taking on a name with bags of experience who still has some fire in his belly.

Don't worry about Cotto being up at middleweight; people are surprised that Khan has moved up for Canelo, but he will be fine and believe me, going up to that weight will be even more comfortable for Kell.

The money Cotto would want and Brook giving up that IBF title would be the problems - one thing we don't do in this country is give up the belt.

And there are very few fighters whose names are bigger than their title. Floyd Mayweather was a classic example because the title is the one thing that opens doors. It might not happen, but it's one I'd like to see.

Jim Watt

Like everybody else, I would love to see him fight Amir Khan and it's not going to happen this summer, that's for sure. I'd like to see Terence Crawford move up but you can't expect him to do that and fight Kell straight away, so if it could happen, I would love to see Brook take on Keith Thurman.

The car accident has left the Shawn Porter fight getting in the way but if it could be made, it would be ideal. Thurman is an established welterweight world champion, he's exciting but when he beat Leonard Bundu over the 12 rounds, he showed he can box smart and adapt. The one thing I like the most about Thurman? He is on the way up.

Kell Brook showed his class as he retained his IBF welterweight world title by stopping Kevin Bizier inside two rounds.

Jamie Moore

I wouldn't be surprised if it was someone like Miguel Cotto. Obviously he has been boxing at middleweight but he might be coming back down to light-middleweight if he fights again and I wouldn't be surprised if Kell Brook did a deal weighing-in at around 152lbs.

Obviously, Amir Khan has taken a massive gamble going in against Canelo at a catchweight. Although people don't think he's going to win, he's getting a lot of respect for it and I think Kell might try and make one of those sort of moves. It's bold but it could pay off because Kell is a big welterweight.

Glenn McCrory

Brook wants the big names now. Ideally, he might be looking for Manny Pacquiao, depending on the outcome of Pacquiao's fight with Timothy Bradley. He'll want to be in with a name like that because he's yet to have his big defining fight.

There are so many good fighters in that division but I'd love to see Kell in with Pacquiao. The Filipino is still a top-drawer name and that's the sort of win Brook needs to get to the next level. Pacquiao has come up through the weights and Kell is a big welterweight and so Kell would have size on him. Brook needs that kind of name to take him to the superstar bracket.
