Callum Smith is gunning for the top of the 168lbs division and will fight this Saturday night live on Sky Sports - but where has Johnny Nelson ranked the Liverpool lad in his British super-middleweight top five?
5. Paul Smith
Paul is treading water, and that's not being disrespectful. I think Paul might want one more fight, then he could walk away.
We've seen Paul have his crack. I actually thought he could do light-middleweight but it takes a lot of commitment - diet and training. He might be too small for super-middleweight.
Paul still has the beating of Rocky Fielding, Luke Blackledge and Jamie Cox because of his experience and wisdom. But when it gets into the top five your experience might not be enough.
4. Martin Murray
He established and proved himself at middleweight, not super-middleweight, which is why I struggle to comfortably put him in the top three. He could beat Groves and give Smith trouble, but does he deserve to be above them in these rankings?
I rate Murray for his strength, energy and bottle. Domestically he can establish himself at super-middleweight but, when we saw him against Arthur Abraham, we saw the gulf in strength and power. I've not seen many people bully Murray - but Gennady Golovkin and a past-his-best Abraham could manhandle and outmuscle him.
3. George Groves
The obvious choice for No 2 would be Groves because of what he's done in his career. But I haven't put him at No 2.
I personally believe the best we saw of Groves was in the first Carl Froch fight. His performances have dwindled since then - I'm not saying he's bad, I'm just saying he's not as good. He's not getting any better.
Before, without a doubt, he'd have been No 2. I'm not saying he's gone, but he's slipping. He has the experience but does he have that snap? Does he have that pace?
2. Callum Smith
He is nowhere near the finished article but his style would beat Groves' style - and Smith is getting better. Style-wise, Groves couldn't afford to stand off Smith but he also couldn't maintain a pressure fight.
Looking at the style of Smith and the pedigree of Groves, this is a dilemma. Do I go for the potential of an unbeaten Smith or an experienced but past-his-best Groves? I think I'll put my neck on the line and say Smith would win.
Smith isn't fully grown even though he's had success. Even when he blitzed Rocky Fielding I thought 'this kid has got to put some meat on his bones!'
1. James DeGale
I don't think any of the others would beat him today, without a doubt. Even when Carl Froch was reigning, I thought if there was any fighter to give him trouble it would have been DeGale. His style is unappreciated and looks ineffective, like Joe Calzaghe. So I thought the man to trouble Froch was DeGale.
Rightfully so, on skills and achievement DeGale is No 1. Forget achievements, on skills I would put DeGale head and shoulders above the rest.
