Johnny Nelson was impressed with Chris Eubank Jr's win over Gary O'Sullivan but also had some concerns, especially if the world title challenge is next...
Eubank Jr's win was impressive. It was certainly entertaining and although it was far from perfect, you already want to see what more he's got to offer.
He earned a shot against the WBA world middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs and yes, Spike O'Sullivan deserves credit, but I think even Eubank Jr will know there is more to come.
I've got to be honest, because I was a little bit worried early on as I thought he might have blown himself out.
He really put the pressure on Spike and he took it all and there were one or two signs that Eubank couldn't maintain the pace. But sooner rather than later, he proved me wrong and just kept going at that pace.
I know the O2 crowd were, and I think we were, all a little bit disappointed the way the fight ended but just because we wanted to see Eubank Jr do the job.
Looking back, Paschal Collins probably did the right thing because it was just one-way from fairly early on. Give Spike credit aswell, because he was strong and he can clearly take a shot and there were times when he looked in serious trouble, yet somehow came through it.
It showed just how effective Eubank Jr will be if he can stick to a rhythm and not get caught up in what he and his opponent want.
There was a little bit of showmanship and some fancy footwork that he didn't really need to do, but it showed he was in control and it also showed us that he will put on a show - if he can.
He won't be able to do that if he gets drawn into a fight when he takes on better opposition, though. Spike dragged him into a brawl a few times and that did leave him open a couple of times and it was a dangerous game to play.
But it showed there is still a learning process Eubank Jr has to go through. I am sure Adam Booth, never mind his dad, will tell him he did at times make it harder for himself, but you have to with what we saw.
Eubank Jr is nowhere near the finished article but like most people, I already want to see what's coming next.
