Anthony Crolla is hopeful an immediate rematch with WBA lightweight champion Darleys Perez will be ordered by the governing body following their controversial draw.
Crolla produced a superb performance against champion Perez at Manchester Arena and most observers believed he had done enough to secure the first world title of his career.
However, he came out on top on only one of the judges' scorecards (116-111) with the other two calling the contest a 113-113 draw despite Perez being deducted two points for low blows.
With the scoring now set to be reviewed by the WBA, Crolla is optimistic a second world title clash against his Colombian rival will be sanctioned for later this year.
When asked about the possibility of securing a rematch, Crolla told Sky Sports News HQ: "I really hope so. I know the WBA are currently reviewing the situation and me and Eddie Hearn have already spoken. They (Perez's team) are very keen to come back over, but it just depends on the decision.
"I am really hopeful that an immediate rematch will be ordered and, if so, there will be another great night in Manchester later in the year. I certainly feel I should be world champion, along with everybody else who viewed the fight.
"But I am a lad that got taught from a young age that I can’t sit around saying that I was robbed. I just felt I was very unlucky and these things happen in boxing, but it would be great if me and Perez could meet again later this year.
"I'm sure him and his team would come over again and I have the right team behind me, in Eddie and Sky Sports, to deliver that."
'Robbery'
Crolla's stablemate Scott Quigg, who retained his WBA super-bantamweight title with a comprehensive second-round TKO of Spaniard Kiko Martinez on the same bill, revealed his anger at the outcome of the fight.
"When the result got read out as a draw, I was absolutely devastated for him. I have trained day in day out with him for the last 10 weeks and I know the amount of effort we have put in," Quigg said
"He doesn't like using the word robbery, but he had his title shot robbed from him in January and on Saturday the verdict was a robbery. He has been robbed twice in my eyes and he should be sat here next to me as world champion."
The bout with Perez marked Crolla’s return to the ring following a seven-month absence after he sustained a fractured skull and broken ankle when attempting to prevent a burglary at his neighbour’s house in Manchester in January.
"I knew I had to control my emotions, because I expected a crazy reaction, but didn’t expect it to be like that," Crolla said.
"It would have been very easy for me to become lost in all of that and it would have fallen right into the opponent's hands, so I knew I could not afford to do that.
"I have only watched the fight back once because it was pretty hard to watch, obviously with all the controversy. But I have watched the ring walk back about 10 times."
