Joe Cordina believes it is only a matter of time before he lands a world title shot.
Cordina returns to the ring against Andy Townend on Saturday at The O2, live on Sky Sports, on a bumper bill which also features Dereck Chisora, Dave Allen, Josh Kelly and Conor Benn.
The former Team GB fighter has spent the past three months training hard for the vacant British lightweight title clash but has his sights firmly fixed on greater honours.
"The British title. It's everything I've worked for, for the last 12 to 14 weeks," Cordina told Sky Sports.
"It will mean a lot but I didn't get into boxing purposely for a British title. I want bigger, I want better things. I came in knowing about a world title, so that's what I eventually want.
"Obviously I realise there are stepping stones on the way and you've got to pick up certain belts to get top where you need to be, which for me is to get a world title and the Lonsdale belt is one of them."
The 27-year-old has won eight straight fights, six inside the distance, while Townend has 22 wins (14 KOs) and four defeats.
"I know he's strong, I know he comes to fight, I know he gives his all but I'm experienced and I know how to handle that," says Cordina.
"I've come across pretty much every style when I was in the amateurs, 180-odd amateur fights, I can't see him bringing something completely different that I've never seen before."
Cordina won the Commonwealth title in his last fight in August and is in no doubt a world title shot is on the horizon.
"I've sacrificed so much in my boxing career, just in family life. I've got two kids and I've missed both of their first birthdays.
"Sacrifices keep me hungry and the hunger I've got to be a world champion is massive so I believe I will. It's not if, it's when I get to a world title."
Watch the return of Joe Cordina on The O2 bill, including David Allen versus Lucas Browne, Derek Chisora against Senad Gashi, Josh Kelly and Conor Benn on Saturday, from 7pm on Sky Sports Action.
