George Groves says he will be ready to fight Callum Smith in the World Boxing Super Series final if the bout can be scheduled for July.

Groves (28-3-KO20) is recovering from the dislocated shoulder he suffered in beating Chris Eubank Jr on points in February to secure a place in the final.

That clash with Smith (24-0-KO17) had been scheduled for June 2, but Groves said after having surgery on the injury that he would need an extension to be able to take on another British super-middleweight rival.

The WBA champion's participation in the final has been in doubt since, but Groves said on Twitter on Wednesday that a scan had shown he would be on track to fight again in July if that extension can be granted by Sauerland Promotions.

He wrote: "This week, I underwent a six-week post-op CT scan on the injured shoulder which I'm very pleased to confirm has healed perfectly.

"All united and good to proceed as planned. So a July 7 World Boxing Super Series final is possible, provided a one-month extension is granted."

Smith beat late replacement Nieky Holzken in his semi-final to set up a clash with Groves.
