Deontay Wilder is the "ultimate" fight for Dillian Whyte, according to Eddie Hearn

Deontay Wilder against Dillian Whyte for WBC world heavyweight title is the biggest fight outside of Anthony Joshua, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.

Whyte secured a unanimous points victory over former European champion Robert Helenius in Cardiff on Saturday night to win the WBC 'silver' belt, which strengthens his position in the rankings for a shot at Wilder's title.

And Hearn believes a clash between the Brixton heavyweight and America's undefeated champion is an "easy" fight to make.

"If Deontay Wilder will travel there's an easy fight to be made on February 3 for the WBC title in London," Hearn said. "It opens up the division because this is where it's at, in the UK."

"He's [Whyte] in a really good position. He could have a final eliminator for the WBC, I think he could have a final eliminator for the IBF, he could fight Deontay Wilder, there's also other fights out there - Dominic Breazeale, Lucas Browne.

"He's going to fight on February 3 at The O2 whatever happens. But ultimately we want the biggest fight out there outside of AJ which is Deontay Wilder for Dillian Whyte."

Wilder, who defends his belt against Bermane Stiverne live on Sky Sports next week, has confirmed he'd be willing to face Whyte should it lead to a unification with Anthony Joshua next summer.

Whyte says it is a scenario which suits all parties and admits he'd even be willing to travel to America in order to secure the lucrative title shot.

"Yes, we're willing to travel. Have gumshield, will travel," said Whyte.

"I'm in boxing to fight the best, but the Deontay Wilder fight makes sense at the moment. So that's what we're chasing."
