The fervent rivalry between England and Scotland is one that goes back to medieval times and this Saturday it will again be reignited when Anthony Crolla faces Ricky Burns.
Manchester's Crolla will face his Glasgow counterpart and fellow former world champion Ricky Burns at the Manchester Arena, live on Sky Sports.
It is a clash underlined by national pride and high stakes and ahead of the cross-border battle, we look at five previous fights when the 'Auld' rivlary has risen to the surface...
George Groves vs Kenny Anderson
George Groves stopped Edinburgh's Kenny Anderson in 2010, defending his rainbow Commonwealth title in the process, but for the Londoner, it was by no means a routine victory.
Despite taking the fight at late notice, Anderson gave as good as he got in the opening periods and in the third round, became the first fighter to floor the now world champion, before suffering defeat.
The Scot became intent on gaining revenge, but bad blood between the two meant a return bout never materialised.
Jamie Moore vs Scott Dixon
The first setback in Jamie Moore's standout career came when he challenged former Commonwealth champion Scott Dixon in just his thirteenth fight in the paid ranks.
Salford's Moore was on the rise, having finished seven of those prior contests early, but either through complacency or inexperience Hamilton's 'Super Scott' proved a step too far, certainly too soon.
The English fighter, who would go on to claim British and European honours, was stopped in the fifth round after a barrage of unanswered punches left him stranded against the ropes.
Alex Arthur vs Nicky Cook
Londoner Nicky Cook challenged Edinburgh's Alex Arthur for the latter's WBO super-featherweight world title in 2008 and going into the fight the parallels were striking between the pair.
Both were former British, Commonwealth and European champions and each had only tasted defeat once ahead of the much-anticipated cross-border clash at Manchester's M.E.N Arena.
Cook move up in weight to take on the Scot and it proved a risk worth taking as he earned a unanimous decision victory. Following the verdict, Arthur claimed that he had been "robbed by three English judges - in England".
Young Mutley vs Kevin Anderson
Scotland certainly got one over England back in 2006 when Kevin Anderson produced an epic comeback and a scintillating stoppage victory to beat West Midlands own Young Mutley.
With the British and Commonwealth welterweight titles on the line, Scotland's Anderson got up from the canvas in the second round, virtually on the brink of defeat, to march towards victory.
The fight, in which Anderson ruthlessly silenced the home crowd, proved to be a classic and quite remarkable domestic encounter, one that will certainly live long in the memory.
Maurice Cullen vs Ken Buchanan
Ken Buchanan is perhaps Scotland's greatest ever boxer and his illustrious career truly got underway when he battled England's Maurice Cullen for the British lightweight title in 1968.
Cullen, from the Tyne and Wear region, had previously defended the iconic Lonsdale belt on four occasions but Buchanan would prove his credentials, dropping Cullen four times on the way to a punishing stoppage victory.
The Edinburgh man would go on to reign as the undisputed lightweight champion of the world, leaving the sport with a legendary status.
