Luke Campbell has been forced to abandon his training camp in Miami as Hurricane Irma heads towards Florida.

Campbell challenges Jorge Linares for his WBA lightweight title in Los Angeles in the early hours of September 24 (UK time) but he has been forced to alter his preparations for the big fight.

Luke Campbell says he's excited for his first opportunity to fight for a world title, but insists he won't be overawed by facing WBA lightweight champion Jorge Linares

The 29-year-old, who won bantamweight gold at the 2012 Olympics in London, has decided not to stay and face the wrath of Irma, which has already caused widespread damage in the Caribbean after winds reached speeds of 185mph.

But Campbell played down the change of plan, insisting the move to the west coast of America will not adversely affect his preparations.

"My hard training is more or less done now," he is quoted as saying in The Times.
