Eddie Hearn wants to work with 'massive box office' Carl Frampton again

Eddie Hearn said he wants to work with Carl Frampton again if he is a free agent

Eddie Hearn admits he would like to pick up on "unfinished business" and work with Carl Frampton again.

The two-weight world champion from Belfast split from Barry McGuigan and Cyclone Promotions on August 21.

Hearn, who promoted Frampton earlier in his career, insists he could get him a rematch with Leo Santa Cruz, if he decides to join Matchroom once he is a free agent.

I can get him the fights he craves. I can pay him the money that he wants and I wan't to work with him.

"I am not going to lie about it, and be sneaky, or make a snide approach. If Carl Frampton is a free agent, I want to work with him," he told Sky Sports.

"I've got the feeling there is unfinished business. I never got the opportunity to do what I could've done with Carl Frampton but that's over, that's history.

"Now we look at the future and the future is Carl Frampton is a massive box office star and is a great fighter. I can get him the fights he craves. I can pay him the money that he wants and I want to work with him.

"Every promoter will want to work with Carl Frampton. We will see if he chooses us."

Frampton had been linked with an all-British featherweight showdown with IBF holder Lee Selby before the split from McGuigan.

Hearn admits that even if he was promoting 'The Jackal' they would not face each other on Anthony Joshua's potential world title defence in Cardiff.

And while Scott Quigg is now up at 126lbs, and the promoter suggests "inter-stable fights are easier to make", he knows where Frampton's fighting targets lie.

"I know he wants to fight this year and on Friday is September 1, so he has to get a move on," he said.

"But again I don't know his situation or his legal position and just one thing is clear: if he is a free agent, we want to work with him.

After defeating Prosper Ankrah back in 2012, Carl Frampton and then promoter Eddie Hearn called out Scott Quigg.

"Scott is fighting in November and then he's ready to go and fight for world titles as well.

"Could we see Quigg-Frampton II? Quite possibly, but listening to Carl Frampton, his target is a rematch with Leo Santa Cruz."
