The double world-title card from the Staples Center in Carson, California, also sees Japan's Naoya Inoue defend his WBO strap against Antonio Nieves of America.

On top of that, Carlos Cuadras, who lost the WBC title to Gonzalez in his first step up in weight, and former flyweight supremo Juan Francisco Estrada meet in an all-Mexican affair at 115lbs.

"This is one of those superb nights that the hardcore boxing fans and purists can't wait to see, but I have a feeling we are going to see something special," said Yafai.

"I will be watching and obviously Gonzalez is the big name out there, but I am now an established world champion, so a unification fight with either of the winners, would suit me fine."
