David Haye says he will "put more energy into training" when he prepares for a showdown with Shannon Briggs.

Haye took less than two rounds to stop Arnold Gjergjaj at The O2 on Saturday, knocking the 31-year-old down once in the first and twice in the second before the referee stopped the fight with 24 seconds remaining in the second round.

Haye is set to face Shannon Briggs next after stoppage win over Arnold Gjergjaj

'The Hayemaker', who started the night as the WBA's No 6 ranked fighter, is still looking ahead at a potential contest with Anthony Joshua but says he will now fight Briggs who impressed on the undercard with a knock-out victory over Emilio Ezequiel Zarate,

And Haye believes the fight will make for an explosive encounter after being relentlessly taunted by the American.

"I'm quite composed normally but he's such a big guy and he's so loud," he told Sky Sports News HQ. "When he gets into your personal space it makes your blood boil a little bit.

"But that will allow me to put more energy into training so when the fight happens it will be that much more explosive."

Haye believes Briggs is still a major threat in the heavyweight division after his knockout win on Saturday, but is confident of an emphatic victory when he faces the American.

"In the first three rounds he's very dangerous, ask Lennox Lewis," Haye added. "The last thing a fighter loses is his punch. I can't afford to get hit by any of his big bombs. He's a big 18-stone man, very powerful, the most first-round knock-outs out of any heavyweight champion in history."

"I'm going to need to be careful in the first few rounds but I believe my superior conditioning and my speed will help me be able to outmanoeuvre him, knock him down and knock him out."
