Dillian Whyte believes he'd have too much for Joseph Parker after watching the Kiwi beat Carlos Takam on points.

Parker (19-0-KO16) became mandatory challenger to IBF world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua with a unanimous decision over the Cameroonian but Whyte (16-1-KO13), who signed for Matchroom earlier in the week, saw plenty of chinks in the armour.

Whyte is currently preparing to return from shoulder surgery by fighting on the undercard of Joshua v Dominic Breazeale on June 25 and told Sky Sports: "I would love to get a crack at Joseph Parker at some point this year.

I see things in Parker's game that mean I could knock him out. I love a left hook and a left hand.

"I think his power is overrated. I think he's fought a lot of sandbags. Sorry, but that's my opinion. Tonight he fought someone with a bit of experience and intelligence and he couldn't stop him.

"I see things in Parker's game that mean I could knock him out. I love a left hook and a left hand. He's very confident and lets his hands go, staying in the pocket because he expects it to have a dramatic effect but somebody like me, that's not going to happen. I will catch them and counter him with big shots. I'd love to fight somebody like that.

Joseph Parker outpointed Carlos Takam in New Zealand

"It was all about the win but I don't think Takam is better than me. At one stage he probably was but I don't think he is right now. I think Takam is on his last legs and has got into a sparring partner's mentality. He does just enough to get through the rounds and never had that drive and desire to win the rounds.

"I thought Takam could've stopped Parker if he had that extra pace and extra gear. Parker did a lot of smart things also and paced the fight well. He made the right bursts to beat a one-paced Carlos Takam.

"Takam will have a lot of regrets when he wakes up in the morning. He will ask why he didn't go that extra mile. Or maybe he'll wake up and say he's had enough."

In December 2015, Whyte and Joshua fought out a classic for the British title at The O2; Joshua eventually recording a seventh-round stoppage of his London rival.

One man impressed by Parker's performance was WBA Super and WBO world champion Tyson Fury, who said via social media: "No rush for my man @joeboxerparker, aged 24 and now 19-0-KO16. You only get one career. Don't rush this young heavyweight. He showed his worth tonight."
