Marcus Morrison, Paul Smith, Callum Johnson and Hosea Burton win in Manchester

By Tim Hobbs

Marcus Morrison underlined his potential, making light work of Jefferson Luiz De Sousa to win the WBC International middleweight title.

Boxing up a weight, the 23-year-old took just two rounds to move to 11-0-KO8, putting the visitor down in both rounds, the finish coming from a perfect left to the body after a vicious right had set it up.

It was expected to be a tough test with De Sousa only losing one of his 19 professional fights, but Morrison was in control from the start.

It was that left-right double that brought the first knockdown, a lovely right uppercut then a perfect left hook putting his opponent down as he again showed that he has all the shots to move forward faster than most.

The Manchester City fan could well follow in Ricky Hatton's footsteps but will be back down at super-welterweight and already has his eyes on domestic titles.
