Kell Brook is determined to shut out further news of Amir Khan and focus on upcoming mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier.

IBF world welterweight champion Brook (35-0-KO24) has long made clear his desire to face fellow northerner Khan (31-3-KO19), who steps up to a catchweight of 155lb to take on WBC middleweight Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez on May 7.

On Thursday, further news broke that the winner of Canelo v Khan is mandated to face middleweight kingpin Gennady Golovkin - but Brook believes the Bolton fighter will be found out up in weight and is determined to prevent frustration affecting his performance against Bizier on March 26.

With Khan's history of getting excited, liking to go out proud and getting involved in a fight - those are the fights you can't do that in.
Brook on Khan's step up

On Khan's future, Brook told Sky Sports: "I believe fighting Canelo is a step too far for him. Let's say he did win, with Khan's history of getting excited, liking to go out proud and getting involved in a fight - those are the fights you can't do that in.

"You can't do that against Canelo and you can't do it against Golovkin. We are going to have to see what his chin's like at that weight. As time goes on and we see the build-up, we'll see how it unfolds.

"I think he should move on [from Floyd Mayweather]. That's what I've come down to. I've been quite loud about wanting the Khan fight. I'm world champion, not him. Don't just put all your eggs in one basket - the division is red hot.

Gennady Golovkin wants a unification fight

"There are other fighters who are willing to test themselves against the best so he's not wanting the thrill of fighting at Wembley, a packed-out arena against me with a lot of history there.

"He's doing his thing. I've got Bizier to take care of and then we can talk again about taking a fight against a big name.

"I'm sick of talking about it, to be honest. We'll have to come back to it when those fights take place."

Brook's clash with Bizier is part of a packed night of Sky Sports boxing in Sheffield, with Luke Campbell's return and a local heavyweight British title eliminator between Richard Towers and David Allen providing support.
