Having successfully made the third defence of his IBF world title on Saturday night, Lee Selby now wants to make up for lost time and finally land a high profile fight.

It has been a testing time for the Welsh featherweight who showed the ultimate resolve to go ahead with his clash against Jonathan Victor Barros following the death of his mother, Frankie, on Tuesday.

Selby admits that he had no option but to fight, especially following periods of inactivity in recent years, and the Welsh star earned a convincing unanimous point's decision victory at Wembley Arena.

Speaking exclusively to Sky Sports, he said: "I had to go ahead and fight on Saturday, if I pulled out, I would have been another six months behind in my career and I couldn't afford that.

"I tried to just focus on my boxing and after watching the fight back, it wasn't my best performance and there is certainly a lot more to come - I should have pushed for the stoppage more.

"He didn't give me much to worry about in there though, the worst thing was probably a head clash that caused a cut to my eye, but I've experienced all that before and I have a great corner to see to it."

Argentine Barros was the 30-year-old's mandatory opponent and with that obligation now fulfilled, Selby wants to crack on and face a high profile name, ideally Belfast star Carl Frampton.

"Now, I need to get a high profile fight and I want to be involved with the likes of Carl Frampton, Leo Santa Cruz, Abner Mares and Gary Russell Jr.

"November time would be perfect for me to return to the ring. I really want to kick on now and make up for lost time."
